Over 100 staff and clients from business organisations across Northern Ireland competed in the 2024 Mary Peters Trust Corporate Games.
The fun filled Sports Day for corporates is in its third year and since its inauguration has raised almost £30,000 for athlete support programmes at the Mary Peters Trust with the 2024 Games set to further build on that total.
Held each year at the Mary Peters Track, this year’s event took place on Friday 31st May and attracted competitors from a range of business organisations including Alchemy, PWC, Wilson Nesbitt, Hughes Insurance, Allstate and 2023 winners IQ&Co.
Taking the top trophy and crowned overall winner of the 2024 Corporate Games was The University of Ulster. They were closely followed by runners-up Alchemy Technology 2 and bronze medallists Alchemy Technology 1.
Teams of eight people take part in a jam-packed programme of classic sports day events alongside track and field sports including shot put, long jump and relay ensuring employees of all fitness levels can get involved. A hugely enjoyable day out of the office for hardworking staff, the Games dovetail with businesses wellbeing programmes and support and develop staff’s physical and mental health.
Congratulating the winners, Lady Mary Peters said:
“We had a brilliant day as always, and well done to the University of Ulster and to everyone who took part. This is a fabulous team building experience for companies, their staff and clients which also raises significant funds for the Mary Peters Trust to help us continue our work in helping promising young athletes reach their full potential.
“It was so rewarding to see such a fantastic turn-out at the track and I would like to thank everyone who took part and those who organised the games. It’s encouraging to see the importance businesses place on health and wellbeing in the workforce and how they want to contribute to the development of Northern Ireland’s sporting talent.”
The Trust aims to showcase the Corporate Games during Spring/Summer 2025 and as we build up the Paris Olympics this summer, I would encourage interested parties to register their interest now by emailing gillian@marypeterstrust.org.
