The Mary Peters Trust has joined forces with Motor Neurone Disease Association NI to raise over £11K which will be divided equally between both charities.
The Gala Dinner took place in October at the stylish Magheramorne Estate near Larne and featured guest speakers, musical performances and an auction raising much needed funds for both local charities.
Monies raised for MND will support specialist nurses, provide research bursaries to universities, and support a range of local programmes including regional roadshows, Carers Days and Afternoon Tea events bringing together people affected by MND, their carers and families.
Mary Peters Trust athletes will also benefit from funds raised helping them source the best facilities and coaching to reach their goals and potentially bring back more medals to Northern Ireland.
Thanking everyone who took part, Lady Mary Peters said, “We had a wonderful evening celebrating both charities and I would like to thank everyone on the organising committee and especially Jane Allen and the team at Magheramorne Estate.
“The dinner was truly amazing and the setting and ambience of the evening was perfect. The event was inspired by two people who are bravely living with MND, Raymond Hill and Debbie Marrs and I know they are thrilled that we have raised so much cash for both charities.”
