Taking place Thursday 8 th June, the jam-packed programme will include classic sports day events alongside competitive sporting events such as shot put, long jump and relay ensuring employees of all fitness abilities can compete. Caragh Hamilton of the Northern Ireland women’s team will lead a warmup to ensure attending teams are primed to perform at their best.
Businesses and organisations from across the province are invited submit teams of eight with PWC, Alchemy, ABL, GLL and Mammoth among those already signed up to support the Trust – the only organisation in Northern Ireland supporting young athletes from all recognised sports.
Lady Mary Peters said: “In this challenging funding landscape, continued creative partnership is crucial, and I look forward to meeting all the teams who sign up to support us at the event this June. As an Olympic athlete, I know first-hand the immense benefits that sports can bring to our physical and mental wellbeing, which is why we are proud to welcome the return of our Corporate Games
event. This event will give the local workforce an opportunity to step outside the office and unwind as a team, whilst also offering businesses the opportunity to contribute to our support of young athletes. And on that note, my Trust and I would like to thank Hughes Insurance for their ongoing dedication to our organisation.”
The insurance company’s ongoing relationship with Mary Peters Trust is part of its Action for Impact initiative – a £100,000 commitment to various charities and organisations to deliver on its Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) agenda in 2023 and beyond. Alongside this current sponsorship, it also funds an annual £5000 bursary programme, now in its third year, which awards ten of the province’s most promising young athletes.
Bethany Carroll, Marketing Executive at Hughes Insurance said: “We are honoured to once again be the headline sponsor for the Trust’s Corporate Games. Having competed last year, I can say with total confidence that the event is an excellent team building exercise. My colleagues and I are very much looking forward to competing once again. It’s a great way for us to keep our team spirit up, highlight the focus we put on wellbeing as a business, and give back to the community.”
In addition to Hughes Insurance, Mary Peter’s Trust Corporate Games 2023 is also supported by Alchemy as this year’s podium partner as well as Grant Thornton, Concentrix and Spectrum Life.
